BETWEEN THE TWO YEARS OF THE MASTER GEAI, STUDENTS HAVE THE POSSIBILITY TO DO A GAP YEAR (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

The gap year allows students to suspend their studies for one year, in order to..:

  • to acquire professional experience in France or abroad

  • to follow training abroad (possibly in another field).

Students in gap year can do :

  • two 6-month internships (preferably abroad or in France)

  • complementary training to that offered in the GEAI Master's programme (in the same field or not), preferably abroad

  • a 6-month internship and a 6-month training course

  • a civic service or voluntary work, preferably abroad

  • start a business project

What did you do during your gap year?

I am of Brazilian origin. Before enrolling in the Master GEAI, I followed an international university course (Brazil then Spain). For my break, I decided to stay in Paris and do two internships in multinational companies. My first internship was at HP in sales as a business developer and my second at L'Oréal in operational marketing.

MARCELO

How was this gap year beneficial for you?

Companies value not only your academic background but also the experiences you have had in the workplace. Taking a break allows you to have better internships at the end of your studies.

I was able with HP to do a face-to-face design course at State School of Design. Then L'Oréal offered to fund an online CalArts course on graphic design. In short, use companies to learn!

What are your future projects?

I was accepted for a graduate program at LinkedIn in Dublin before the end of my studies. The idea now is to finish my studies and work as a trainee in a big Tech company.

WILLIAM

Qu’as-tu fait pendant ton échange ?

I took part in a university exchange at the European Business School (EBS) in Germany near Frankfurt, during the two semesters of Master 1 GEAI. The modules I chose to study at EBS are mainly in Finance (Corporate Finance, Asset Pricing & Derivatives, Economics of Financial Markets, Real Estate Finance, International Business...). but it is also possible to choose Automotive, Management, Marketing or Real Estate.

Qu’est-ce que ton échange t’as apporté ?

During this exchange, I was able to meet and work on different projects with people with a different culture, a different way of thinking and a different academic background from mine. This allowed me to learn how to adapt to be able to identify each person's strengths in order to have an efficient group and to bring out the best in each person through a project.

Quels sont tes projets futurs ?

This experience has allowed me to consolidate and complete my knowledge of the financial sector in which I intend to pursue my career.
